Owl Canvases!

Look at these ADORABLE canvases I found for the babies room! Won't the colors go so well with the sheets I already made? ...just a little sarcasm :) These are the canvases BEFORE they were transformed....So I kind of actually did a tutorial on this project. I guess I am becoming a real blogger! It was a crazy idea I had, but I actually love how they turned out. First, I found a couple of pictures of owls online that I liked, and combined them to create a look that I liked. Then I drew a real size picture of this owl on the cardboard, only because I didn't have any paper large enough.
Then using tracing paper, I traced the different body parts onto card stock and cut them out.

Then I applied wonder under (by the way, I love this stuff! It makes it SO easy to do appliques) to the fabric I would be using for the different owl body parts. Then I traced around my card stock pieces and cut out the parts. I then sewed the parts together, filling the eyes and wings with poly-fil, so they stick out a bit. I then sewed the owls to the big piece of fabric that I then stapled tightly to fit around the old canvases... and so... here are the transformed canvases!!

What do you think? By the way, I decided to not go with the grey and yellow, mostly because we already have those colors in our bedroom.

I also made a few covers for a changing pad out of the leftover fabric I had. As you can tell, I pieced them together because I was running out of fabric and didn't want to have to go buy more. I actually think it looks cuter pieced together.

Here are all three of the changing pad covers. I know it is kind of hard to see what they look like in the picture. I am just planning on sticking this on top of his dresser since I don't want to buy a changing table.
