1st Birthday Party

Happy 1st Birthday to our sweet baby boy! We had an awesome party at our house and had about 25 of our friends over to celebrate with us. Our house was seriously packed! We decided the celebration was probably more for the parents for making it through the first year :) 

I'll be honest, I had such a fun time planning and getting things ready for our little guys' party. I designed cupcake toppers, food signs, and the monster picture on the table, with one of my computer programs.

 We had a barbecue so the food was fairly easy. I did fruit kabobs, and those are deceitfully time consuming! We had chocolate cupcakes with oreo frosting, and sugar cookie bars as well. 

I finally got to use my cupcake stand that my mom got me like 2 years ago for Christmas! It looked so cute holding all of the cupcakes.

I made felt flower balls to stick in the mason jars filled with M&Ms. 

Easiest decoration, and I think the cutest. I printed pictures in black and white starting with newborn, and then every month after that up to one year. It was so crazy to see how much he changed in just one year.

Finally enjoying it. He didn't even really get that messy! He did eat the entire cupcake though!

Nixon then opened his gifts... a big thank you to our friends for bringing him gifts! I made him the book below using the same computer program, and then got it printed. It was his only gift from his parents but I'm hoping it will be a keepsake for him. I will do another post more detailed on the book...

Happiest part of the night... in his comfy jammies, playing with his old "Dusty the Vacuum" toy that I found at a yard sale for $3.  

We love you Nixon! We can't believe we were so blessed to be chosen as your parents. A year has flown by and has brought us much excitement and growth. I absolutely LOVE being your mom. We can't wait to see what next year brings!
