Trek to Omaha

Here is the famous "Birthing Kit" that you have heard about! I am so glad we didn't have to use it.

My sweet grandma Whitt put it together for us so that we would have it "just in case". The trek to Omaha wasn't the easiest trip we've ever made, but went surprisingly well. We drove the first 12 hours to Denver and stayed with Chase's aunt. We drove the rest of the 8 hours the next day. We stopped every few hours and walked which seemed to help, and I changed positions like sitting on my knees, facing the back seat and leaning over the seat. This also seemed to help take the pressure off my back. ( One funny side note. Since we were actually homeless at the time, I was nesting by organizing, and re organizing the car and trunk. So glad we actually have a house now!)
We had to stay in a hotel for three nights until we could get into our house. This was a pain, but was worth it since we were able to have a doctors appointment the next morning after getting there, and meet our doctor. She is awesome! We were so relieved that she is a good fit for us, especially considering we don't have time to find a different one. She checked me for the first time and found out I was dilated to a 3 and 75% effaced. We were very surprised! I'm glad I didn't know I was that far along, I don't know if I would have made the trip out knowing that I was making progress already! After we found this out, we still had two more days until we could get into our house, so we were praying I didn't go into labor until at least then!We got into our house Sunday night, but the moving truck wasn't showing up until the next morning. I had packed our air mattress and bedding knowing we would have one night without our stuff. One side note, I don't suggest sleeping on an air mattress 38 weeks pregnant.

The moving truck showed up right on time the next morning! It seemed like every day we got through, was one day closer to being moved in, settled, and ready for baby Nixon. We had gone to our ward the day before and had asked for volunteers to come help us move in. Chase said two people raised their hands during Priesthood. That day, five different men from the ward stopped by to see if we needed help. I guess an email had been sent out to ward members Sunday night. I am so grateful to have the gospel and to have church members here. I really don't know how we would have been able to unload and move in without them!

Chase put our crib together! It was a fun, monumental moment, especially since we haven't been able to put the baby's room together until now. I don't know if this was a "nesting" thing to do, or "OCD" thing to do, but I had to wash every single dish, pot, and pan we own before putting them away, and wash every single item of clothing, sheet, towel, and blanket that we own! I was doing laundry for 3 days straight! I used to kind of enjoy doing laundry, but I think the thrill for me is gone now :) It feels SO good to have everything clean and put away before the baby comes. We have 2 1/2 flights of stairs in our house, so I was going up and down them constantly doing laundry. Chase was worried I was going to put myself into labor. :) He also told me that I was pushing him as hard as his dad does when he is working on the farm! Well, we had things to get done, and we had a deadline, we just don't know when it is :)

We really are LOVING the house! It is so great that we came from our 2 bedroom apartment in Pocatello. It was a great place for us for four years, and we had a lot of fun there and made lots of memories. It gave us an appreciation for what we have now. I am SO grateful to not have our washer and dryer in the kitchen! I am so grateful to have a dishwasher next to the sink! I am so grateful for overhead lighting, air conditioning, and garages! I really could go on... I want to always remember that first place and realize how blessed we have been throughout the years and how blessed we are now.

We are so happy and blessed that all has worked out so far. I feel like I have been worrying the last nine months about how everything was going to fall into place, and so far it has. We are completely moved in now, just awaiting the arrival of our sweet little baby and we couldn't be more happy.

I will post pictures of the baby's room and rest of the house soon!
