Not So Perfect

Sometimes I get sick of looking at blogs where everyone's houses are immaculate, the kids are dressed and clean to perfection, and the laundry is always done. Here is how Nixon looks after MOST meals(I don't know if you can see the slobber and food all over his belly), and how my sink looks after dinner MOST days (that is when I have time to cook a meal from scratch and we aren't having leftovers). There is no way to keep up with everything ALL the time (taking care of the baby, spending time with the hubby, laundry, dishes, cleaning, grocery shopping, cooking, making money, church callings, exercising, just to mention a few) and I quickly discovered that after having a baby. I also realized that I don't want to miss out on time with my baby just because the dishes need done RIGHT NOW. The stages seem to come and go SO fast and I would be so sad if I looked back wishing I had done things differently.
So for all you mothers who feel like EVERYONE in the blog world has a perfect life.. here is a realistic look into ours :)
I love the quote from this last conference by Neal L. Anderson:
"Motherhood is not a hobby, it is a calling. You do not collect children because you find them cuter than stamps. It is not something to do if you can squeeze the time in. It is what God gave you time for."

  2. it's so true!! i love this post because it is down-to-earth and realistic! my house is almost always in need of cleaning! i can't even get the couch cushions to stay on for more than an hour everyday because of the 2 little boys pulling them off to play every chance they get. i wouldn't trade my time with them for anything. you guys look fantastic and we miss you tons!!! merry christmas!!!
