8 Months

Does this look like a little wild man or what? Nixon turned 8 months last Tuesday! He started "crawling" (I'll use that term loosely) on his 8 month birthday. It's a funny kind of crawl though; he is still pretty much flat on his belly, pushes up high on his toes with his bum in the air, grips the carpet with his hands, pulls himself forward, and then lets out a big grunt every time (he acts like it is a lot of work). Another highlight of this month is he shared his breakfast with me (he tried to put part of his graham cracker in my mouth).
I made a new years resolution (it was a silent one because I didn't know if we could do it :), that Nixon would be sleeping COMPLETELY through the night by his 8 month birthday. And I have to say, I think we are pretty much there! We let him cry for a couple of nights and ever since then he has been doing awesome. For the last 2 weeks he has been going to bed between 7:30 and 8:00 and sleeping until around 7:00 am! I can't tell you how great it feels to sleep more than 4 or 5 hours at a time! I'm sure all you mothers know :)
Here are some other things he has been up to this month:
pivots 360 degrees easily on his stomach
says "ba ba", "ma ma" and "gee"
can pull himself up on to his knees using furniture
likes his johnny jump up
started pushing his cars back and forth
uses sippy cup, but spits water out, never swallows it (he would rather suck air through it)
favorite song right now is "Eensy Weensy Spider"
STARTED WAVING!! So so fun!
Had his 2nd runny nose of his life (I'm so grateful he has been so healthy!)
Constantly DROOLING, as you can see in the picture below! I can't seem to keep his clothes dry because he slobbers so much. (my mom said I was a big drooler when I was a baby. She would pin cloth diapers around my neck to keep me dry haha Maybe he gets it from his mom!)

  1. He's getting so big. I love the johnny jump-up video. He's got the hang of it now, lots faster than when he tried it at my house. What a sweetie and good job on the sleeping through the night thing. Mine still don't sleep through the night. I must take lessons from you!
