Potty Training

We started potty training! Ahh! I can't believe our little guy is big enough for this. I followed a method my friend used that has worked great with her two boys. I gave him the bucket below with snacks, buzz underwear, and his favorite, Thomas Juice. This got him excited and he was more willing to put the underwear on because they had buzz on them. The first day was TORTURE! I basically pumped him full of snacks and juice and put him on the potty EVERY 15 MINUTES. It was exhausting. No tv, ipad, and you spend every minute with them all day. You don't every go back to diapers or pull ups, even during naps or at night. We had two accidents in the kitchen right from the beginning (we pretty much stayed in the kitchen all day so that messes were easy to clean up). I was actually glad though because he had never even felt his pee before and was a little shocked it was coming from him. By the third time, we had a success on the potty. He went two more times without any accidents before his nap. Long story short, he has woken up dry from his naps for the last week, and has woken up dry in the morning for the last three days. Accidents during the day are rare and he is now telling me when he needs to go. We went out and about for a few hours on Saturday and he even went at the store! We have not put a diaper back on him once. We are still working on number 2 but I am confident we will get there!
His choice of clothing for most of the week :) his "superman" outfit
We kept busy by playing with play doh, coloring, stickers, playing in the sink, and playing with colored rice. Notice the Thomas Juice not leaving his side:)
I'm sorry, this is just too cute. It is so fun to see him in big boy underwear!
It has been so fun to see his progress over the last week and a half. They really are much smarter than we give them credit for. It has been such a long, hard, but rewarding week for us all! We are so proud of you Nixon!
