8 Months

Does this look like a little wild man or what? Nixon turned 8 months last Tuesday! He started "crawling" (I'll use that term loosely) on his 8 month birthday. It's a funny kind of crawl though; he is still pretty much flat on his belly, pushes up high on his toes with his bum in the air, grips the carpet with his hands, pulls himself forward, and then lets out a big grunt every time (he acts like it is a lot of work). Another highlight of this month is he shared his breakfast with me (he tried to put part of his graham cracker in my mouth).
I made a new years resolution (it was a silent one because I didn't know if we could do it :), that Nixon would be sleeping COMPLETELY through the night by his 8 month birthday. And I have to say, I think we are pretty much there! We let him cry for a couple of nights and ever since then he has been doing awesome. For the last 2 weeks he has been going to bed between 7:30 and 8:00 and sleeping until around 7:00 am! I can't tell you how great it feels to sleep more than 4 or 5 hours at a time! I'm sure all you mothers know :)
Here are some other things he has been up to this month:
pivots 360 degrees easily on his stomach
says "ba ba", "ma ma" and "gee"
can pull himself up on to his knees using furniture
likes his johnny jump up
started pushing his cars back and forth
uses sippy cup, but spits water out, never swallows it (he would rather suck air through it)
favorite song right now is "Eensy Weensy Spider"
STARTED WAVING!! So so fun!
Had his 2nd runny nose of his life (I'm so grateful he has been so healthy!)
Constantly DROOLING, as you can see in the picture below! I can't seem to keep his clothes dry because he slobbers so much. (my mom said I was a big drooler when I was a baby. She would pin cloth diapers around my neck to keep me dry haha Maybe he gets it from his mom!)

7 Months

I am finally getting around to Nixon's 7 month post.. he turns 8 months next week. It's been a busy couple of weeks for us getting back into the swing of things. He turned 7 months on Christmas Eve and is a BUSY BUSY boy! It is seriously a full time job keeping him entertained. He is already sick of his toys and gets frustrated that he can't crawl and get to where he needs to be. It takes ALL my creative juices every day to figure out how to keep him entertained. I love that his personality keeps coming out more and more. Here are some things he has been doing this month:
Still loves his bath (if he is fussy, this will always work)
Scratches things when he is tired (sometimes after I lay him down at night for bed, we can hear him scratching his sheet. It's hilarious.)
Has found a new love for cellphones, remotes, and anything with buttons
Still nursing 5 times a day, plus one feeding during the night
Lots of drooling, but no teeth
He can pivot 90 degrees on his belly, but no crawling yet
Blows lots of bubbles
Started "whimpering" when we were in Idaho, sounded like a little puppy
Sleeps 11-12 hours a night
Takes 2 naps, each usually 1 to 1 1/2 hours long
Sick of his toys
Likes playing with stuff from the kitchen, but even that stuff is getting boring to him
Lights up when he sees his friends, or they come to play
Loves to go on walks and be outside
When he is being held, always tries to lean and get things or turn away from you
Loves sleeping on his tummy, but started turning up on his hip, almost on his side, when you first lay him down.. Here is a pic of that :)
I have been wanting to take some pictures of Nixon in one of Chase's old outfits from when he was a baby and finally got around to it. Chase is on the left:)
These 2 are both Nixon
He was much more interested in playing with the backdrop and shredding it to pieces than smiling at the camera :)

Whittaker 50th Wedding Anniversary

When we were in Idaho, my grandparents had their 50th wedding anniversary. I took some pictures of them to display at the party..

I mean really? Come on. Is she not the cutest grandma you have every seen??

Destri!! It was so great to see this girl!!
Nixon couldn't quite make it to the end of the night. Chase rocked him to sleep in another room and he had a little 20 minute cat nap so he could party until the end :)
I was SO happy we got to see Ali, Caleb, and their twins Kiyah and Daxton.

Christmas Day

We spent Christmas day with the Funks and had a great time opening gifts. We all got matching PJ's the night before...
Kristy, Chalet, Janessa, Hailey, and Heidi. I love these girls! We had a blast playing Dance Dance Revolution, and laughing at and with each other :)
Nixon's 1st Christmas
Playing with Uncle Zack
The boys with Grandma and Grandpa
"Three little Monsters"

The boys looked so handsome at church!
We took a few family pictures after church...
I loved having Christmas on Sunday this year. I felt like I reflected more on the true meaning of Christmas. I am so grateful we are able to celebrate our Savior's birth every year. I am so thankful for Him, his life, and his sacrifice. It makes me feel very tender when I think about teaching Nixon about Jesus and what He has done for each of us. Because of Him, we can be together forever and return back to our Father in Heaven, the greatest gift I was able to contemplate this Christmas.

Christmas Eve

We spent Christmas Eve with the Nyes, having the traditional Christmas Eve party. Lots of yummy food, the Nativity, and the White Elephant gift exchange. Nixon looked so cute in his new pjs from Grandma Ellie!
Grandpa Whittaker came strolling in with this fun horse for the boys to play on
This was done without me knowing!! I promise I would never put a headband on my boy :)

Christmas Break

We had the opportunity to go to Idaho for 2 whole weeks over Chase's break! It was so fun to see family and friends, and let everyone love on our Nix! As you can see from the picture above, he was sort of the main attraction :)
Grandma and Grandpa Funk picked us up from the airport, and Nixon was sure happy to see his grandma!
We did some clay pigeon shooting and Chase really reminded me of what an awesome Idaho boy he is :) He shot 6 out of 6!
Nixon had his shooting cap on.. ADORABLE! Kristy, Heidi, Grandma Funk and Nixon

I even tried out a few shots, burp rag and all.
Grandma and Grandpa Robins
Nixon had his first swim at Miracle Hot Springs, while at the Nye's...actually his first swim ever! He looked pretty dang cute in his swimsuit! (we took off his swim shirt after a while because everyone wanted to see his fat, soft belly :)Trey and Hollister are such great Uncles! They helped out so much while we were there and were very good at keeping Nixon entertained.
Grandma Ellie and Nixon sure had a fun time together!
Chase spent lots of time playing Monopoly with Trey...some very long games :)
Alba and Nixon
It was so fun to get these three together! Boston and Nixon are 12 days apart and I'm afraid Max will be the ringleader one day :) These cousins will definitely make some fun memories.
So cute!

Boston and Nixon were continuously trying to pull each other's binkys out of each other's mouths. It was so funny
We took a day trip to Pocatello to see some friends! We finally got to meet baby Deacon and hang out with Alan and Emily. It was so fun to catch up! Nixon was enthralled by Deacon and I'm sure they will be best buds!
All the boys: Alan, Deacon, Chase and Nixon (he was being a major cheese ball, pretty funny)

Janessa, Deacon, Emily, and Nixon
We also got to see Brooke before she took off for New York!
We even got to see Grandma Nancy, we miss you!
The Eddie family! It was so fun to catch up, such a sweet family!
Grandpa George and Nixon had some fun time bonding and getting to know each other better this trip.
Nixon meeting Santa Clause!
We had a fun night at my parent's ward party
Grandma Robins
Great, great Grandpa Uhrich. He was so cute with Nixon. He kept saying, "You can stay here with me, you and I will have a GREAT time."
We took some pictures of Nixon and Grandpa Uhrich's hands. It wasn't an easy job, but I think this one turned out SO sweet!
